Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC), an Oakville-based charity, has partnered with Toronto-based United Tegaru Canada (UTC) to ship thousands of treatments’ worth of medicine to Ethiopia’s Tigray region.
“For this first shipment, we’re sending six thousand (treatments) and then hopefully we’ll be able to do the remainder later on in the fall,” Feben Embaye of UTC told the Oakville Beaver. The 6,000 treatments will be shipped in 10 Humanitarian Medical Kits (HMK).
“But our goal is 40 humanitarian medical kits, which would provide 24,000 medical treatments,” Embaye added. HPIC was approached by UTC last July. Fundraising and campaigning began soon after that.
